And so it begins
Ok here it is the blog to see me through the second half of the task at hand. My start weight on the scales was 22st 7lbs I then proceded to put on another half stone and was at my heaviest being 23st. Ive lost nearly 5 stones now from that 23 but when I talk about my 10% calculations these are done from the original start weight of 22st 7lbs.
January has begun amazingly well. Christmas was immense loads of celebrating drink food and time spent with friends and family. Last year due to working so much I didnt even put up a tree, something that will never be repeated. So it was good for me to enjoy that knowing that after new year id be right back on it.
Im still in such better condition than last christmas anyway that there is no way I could put on so much as to eradicate the good work done over the 12 months. ( I say 12 months I did a lot better in the second half of the year, June onwards).
I dont start a new job til 1/2/2010 so atm I am officially a gym rat. Im swimming 45m per day, training with friends on weights 3 times per week and this week ive started doing some cardio work in the dry side of the gym running ten minutes and 6 mins on the exercise bike, which I am really enjoying. Its a good feeling to push yourself, one that I havent felt in a long time.
Im currently 1 pound away from my 2nd 10%. I have already lost 10% from my original start weight when I reached 20st 3.5lbs. At this weight I recalculated this and am only a pound away from achieving this mini goal. By the time I have a healthy BMI for my height I will have lost 10% 6 times. Below are some photos of me at my largest to give a beginning. These were taken at a wedding of two of my friends in Majorca. I have weddings this year in April, May and August bank holiday weekend with this group of friends so hopefully I will be able to show a good comparison later in the year to show me as a reduced version of my former self. Id describe myself for the group shots but as im the one who is clearly about 10 stone heavier than the group its probably not needed. Added to that the lads all seem to have white shirts on and I went for blue so im easy to find. (All photos posted with permission of the lads so im pleased that they were on board with the Blog, cheers boys. I have all the support in the world from this group of people couldnt wish or ask for better people in my life they know why, much love lads!)




The following photo was taken on 31/8/2009 after returning from a stag do in Valencia I was 20st 7lbs the wed at WI. Scary to look back and think id already lost 2.5 stones.
This is a nice in between stage from largest to now.

WI - 12/1/2010 - Ok so went to meeting after christmas and the result was a 3.5lb gain. Ill take that considering how much I had induldged over the festivities. Im certain that from the new year to that 1st WI on 12/1/2010 id lost a fair bit anyway so wasnt too concerned as id already been working hard on exercise and being on track food wise.
WI - 19/1/2010 - Result was a 6 pound loss. taking me to 18st 4.5 pounds. For me its great to be the lightest i have been since startin the plan. This week im in that position so im really pleased. Ive really worked hard in the gym and concentrated on my food so I was certain id lose. With similar focus and effort im certain it will continue.
Below is the current photo this was taken 22/1/2010, This is therefore at a weight of 18st 4.5lbs or just under as im in between weigh ins.

Meeting 26/1/2010 - Made up with the result tonight another 4.5lbs gone. This takes me through another large milestone of my 2nd 10%. I am now officially 18stone. Also had a change of WI clothes tonight cos I was starting to lose the cargo pants i was wearing. Switched tonight to a pair of jeans and a t shirt. I know its heavier in jeans but its done now so at least I wont get thrown out for flashing my bills on the scale. Next week the clothes will be the same so its not worrying me too much.
This week I have been within points everyday. some of those points were made up with beer due to celebrations happening so ill take the 4.5 loss all day long. I dont want to sacrifice normal things to lose weight I want to be able to change without having to do without. I know this is possible. 3.5lb loss next week will be a stone since first WI of 2010 on 12/1/2010.
We shall see!
WI 2/2/2010 - Another great result tonight and a 5 pound loss. Takes my total for Jan to 15.5 pounds. With that number coming since WI on the 12/1/2010 i presume I have lost even more since new year.
The main reason for joining WW was to lose weight obviously but a marker I had in my mind was my 30th birthday which falls on the 24th of Feb 2010. In an ideal world I would have been at goal for this but with another couple of good weeks I will be very happy to be in much better condition both physically and mentally than when this journey officially began in August 2008.
WI today takes me into anothewr stone bracket of 17st 9. I have a few mini milestones that I work towards. WW give a silver 7 sticker for each half stone lost which is great. My mini milestones are as follows.
1) Break the stone barrier to make the big number of stones a smaller number of stones.
2) Get the pounds after the stone into single digits - ie under 17st 10 to 17st 9 or lower.
3) Break through the half stone barrier. - Be under 17st 7lbs.
4 Work towards the next stone barrier.
So this week I met two of my mini milestones and am now focused this coming week on breaking under 17st 7lbs to achieve mini milestone number 3.

WI 9/2/2010
Pleased to report another loss this week. I decided this week to wear a belt with my WI cargo pants as if I dont they fall down. Got on the scales with it on and lost 1.5 pounds. I was pleased with this but to achieve a mini goal and break through the half stone barrier I asked to get back on and this time took the belt off. Resulting in another 1lb coming off the scales. This means im under 17 and a half now at 17st 6.5lbs.
Ive started a new job so I have a great work life balance, weight is continuing to drop and on nights out this weekend Ive realised im no longer the biggest bloke in the bar. Nice realisation for me that.
I also finished a 6 week weight training program so on Tuesday after WI ill get weighed again on the gym scales and do a body fat test too. Hopefully that will be a good change.
WI 16/2/2010 -
Loss of 7 pounds to take me to 16st 13.5lbs. This is the last WI before my thirtieth birthday so after deciding to lose weight for this birthday im very happy to be just over 6 stone lighter.

After much birthday celebrations for myself my friends and also my mum I have had a good few weeks off. Ive enjoyed every pint every bit of food that usually is a no go. So thats why im accepting a big gain in a month. I weighed in this morning at 18st 2.5 pounds. I need a good week this week as next Friday 19th March I go to Munich for a weekend on a stag do. 30 litre kegs have been ordered so there is no chance im pointing. So one week of hard work before I go to give myself a buffer zone to grow into over the weekend then I have a few weeks without anything on to get back into it.
WI - 23/3/2010 -
So this was Munich lovely city great atmosphere massive all seater beer halls Steins that are the above which is 1.7 pints. Loads of stodgy food and great sausages and pork with crackling. Awesome.
However I got weighed the Tuesday after i got back and ive lost 7.5lbs since last WI so came in at 17st 9lbs. This was with a good week before I went to Munich so I must have done ok before then but thats what I planned. Im not willing to not live my life while I lose weight.
Ive been right on points this week so im hoping for another loss tom which is Tuesday but maybe ill get caught up with who knows but ill update when I know.

This is the a great way to view things Rich, as none of us are on a diet why should we sacrifice anything, we are just changing our eating and the way we think about food.
